Biography of the speaker
Dr. David Casbeer is the technical area lead for UAV Cooperative and Intelligent Control within the Control Science Center in the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Aerospace Systems Directorate. In this role, he leads a team of AFRL researchers collaborating with industry and academic partners around the world to address the fundamental roadblocks that must be overcome to enable autonomous UAVs in future air force missions. He received the BS and PhD degrees from Brigham Young University in 2003 and 2009, respectively, where he advanced theory describing the statistics of decentralized estimation techniques. Dr. Casbeer has published extensively, with over 200 publications, one patent, and 5 invention disclosures. He is a senior member of the IEEE and an Associate Fellow in the AIAA. He is a past Technical Committee Chair for the AIAA Intelligent Systems Technical Committee and Senior Editor for the Journal of Intelligent Robotic Systems. He currently serves as an associate editor for the AIAA Journal of Aerospace Information Systems.
